Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his position after a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

The manager highlighted recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
