Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community offered sympathy for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
